I just found out that with propagation delay in CMOS circuitry a bit state moves at about one-third the speed of light. Using an 80ns ram chip as a benchmark, a "bit" is (.3m x 80ns) x (3/1) prop/delay or about 72 metres long.... But that's a different mailing list.

I hope you don't mind a little background music while we talk.

So the point of HEIGHTS mailinglist is to have an open forum for Heights people who are out of college or still stuck in it. Having been out of it since 1993, I find it refreshing to go back to my Heights friends and talk about things we used to talk about.

But I digress.

The point is I want this to be a place where anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, can ask questions, get some answers, share some insights, tell some jokes and generally chat with other Heights'ers who are interested in keeping in touch.

I don't give a damn what the topic is, if a couple of people are interested, let's kick it around.

But remember that this is your list; and it exists because of you. Imagine the Heights Log Book. Imagine the Pubroom. Without us, the logbook would be empty and the room dusty. If you want to talk about writing, fine. About not writing, fine. About baby food and hydraulic shocks, fine. Just keep the spirit Heights'y and we'll be fine.

The idea is to share what we know, find out what we don't --- and generally enjoy a sort of "electronic pubroom" where Heights'ers can always find another Heights'er.
